Spamming that Ripper cheese. Uses no cards above rare.

Concept

The Ripper combo has been the terror of ladder ever since Ragnora was released – Ripper Egg + egg-hatching effect + buff¬† results in 10+ burst damage entirely out-of-hand. Amazingly, all of the pieces of this combo can be built with redundancy even while sticking to a budget. This is the deck you get when you throw all these pieces together. I’m not particularly proud of this one – Rippers are so cheesy that taking this approach for a deck is kind of low-hanging fruit, but it’s also unquestionably the easiest way to have success on a budget, so here we are.

cards

Rippers

  • BBS (Cryptographer)
  • Rage Reactor

Rippers Eggs are made primarily by your BBS, but can also be created by Reactor, which if equipped in advance can cut a mana off of your combo.

  • Erratic Raptyr

Raptyr is also kind of a backup Ripper, as something you can hatch for big chunks of damage.

Hatch

  • Egg Morph
  • Wild Inceptor

Morph is more nakedly powerful as it can also be used as removal in a pinch, but Inceptor can be discounted by Flash to sneak in a combo for less mana.

Buff

  • Greater Fortitude
  • Primus Fist
  • Blood Rage

Fortitude is the most cost-efficient, but Blood Rage provides huge damage and leads to very early lethals on unaware opponents. Fist isn’t enough on its own since he provides no boost to health, but can be used in combination with the others.

Other

  • Young Silithar
  • Primus Shieldmaster

These are more sticky minions that help with board control.

  • Flash Reincarnation

This is good on Raptyr early and can be used to discount the finishing combo when applied to a Fist or an Inceptor.

  • Lava Lance

Ragnora’s best single-target removal spell.

  • Tectonic Spikes

The best piece of card draw for this deck’s gameplan.

gameplay

Get in incidental chip damage and play a normal tempo-based gameplan with your sticky Rebirth minions, then close things out with a massive Ripper combo.

Upgrades

This deck can be upgraded to tribal Eggs (see for example this), or just Aggro (see here).

The first upgrade for any Magmar deck should be Makantor Warbeast, which is Magmar’s best card.

Eggs: Zoetic Charm for better resilience, Bloodbound Mentor and Progenitor for increased egg production, Extinction Event as a finisher.

Aggro: Mostly you just need Spelljammer for better draw.
